FOR RELEASE: Wednesday, June 17, 2009
Campus and Public Input Sought for Climate Action Plan You are invited to join Nick Brown, the executive assistant for sustainability on the University of Arkansas campus, for public input sessions regarding the Campus Climate Action Plan. The first session will be held from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, in the Upchurch Conference room in the Bell Engineering Center. The Climate Action Plan is one of the key actions pledged by the University of Arkansas when it became one of the first 100 signatories of the American College and University President's Climate Commitment. The plan will outline the ways in which the university will achieve "climate neutrality." The action plan and all progress reporting will be made available to the campus community. A second day of public input sessions will be held from noon to 1 p.m. and from 6:30-7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at the Fayetteville Public Library. During the sessions, Brown will give a 20-minute overview of sustainability efforts currently under way and then open the discussion to gather additional ideas for ways the University of Arkansas may ultimately reduce its carbon footprint. Participants may provide written comments. For more information or to view a draft of the 2009 University of Arkansas Climate Action Plan, visit http://sustainability.uark.edu/. You may also provide input by sending e-mail to nrb004@uark.edu.
