Branded Environments

Eva Maddox, who lectures regularly on the value of design to society, will speak on the topic "Branded Environments" at 11 a.m. Monday, March 26, in the ARKU Theater. Maddox is recognized as one of the first to engage in the theory of design combining brand strategies and design communications - a theory which has proved its importance through successful and innovative projects.

Maddox lectures regularly at architectural and design schools and through invitation has extended her reach to Kahaka, Bangladesh, Mumbai, India, and Qatar. She initiated the Eva Maddox Branded Environments group which is made up of a combination of architects, interior designers, graphic designers, marketing communications, writers, researchers and multi-media communications teams working to create design solutions demonstrating the goals of their clients and meeting the functional needs of their users.  Additionally, she is Co-Founder of Archeworks, Chicago's alternative design school dedicated to the development of design systems for people who are most in need. She was elected into the Interior Design Hall of Fame in 1992 and has been awarded over 100 other awards for design excellence.

One of Branded Environments' projects, Haworth's Chicago Merchandise Mart Showroom, is recognized as the first to receive the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) Gold Certification for sustainable design.

The lecture is supported by the Baum Teaching Grants administered by the University of Arkansas Teaching Academy and Interior Design Advisory Board at the University of Arkansas.  The lecture is free and open to the public.
